Summer Holidays

I know, I know, Summer is nearly over and I haven't put anything up for ages. Well hold on to your socks folks! I'll be posting a few long overdue posts in the next few days.

Here's the first: Summer holiday. We went with friends to Barwon Heads, it was a really delightful spot and we had a lovely week there towards the end of January.

Our campsite backed on to a big grass area overlooking the estuary, we often sat there of an evening

The kids swam and played in the estuary

At low tide we watched Soldier Crabs going about their sand eating business.  They are fast!  They dive into the sand when you get anywhere near them, we had to sit quietly alongside the water and wait for them to appear again.

The kids fished off the bridge
Nothing of note was caught, but they had fun nonetheless.  We wandered back and forward to town, it's a lovely village with lots of very nice shops, and some fine cafes.

A couple of times when the wind wasn't too awful we went over to the surf beach.  John got the kids on to his surf board.  Connor is now a big fan of surfing and desperate for his own board.  I didn't catch Connor surfing but Mia shocked us all by standing up twice

Richard had to work the week we were there, and he had a lot of boat building business to attend to, but we enjoyed his company when we were there and it was a most relaxing week.
