Firebug Launch

I may have mentioned, a couple of times, the Firebug build that took over our garage, carport and LIFE from October until February.  7 boats (including ours) were built in this period.  The big launch day finally arrived in early February.

First thing in the morning two boats were launched for the kids to use for sail training, Connor's boat, Whiplash, and another boat, Shadow.

Here is Connor and Richard taking Whiplash down to the beach for the first time.

And Connor getting in

And sailing off on his inaugural sail

Later in the day, we had the "launch" of all the boats.  Unfortunately between launching Whiplash and Shadow, and the crowd arriving for the official festivities, the wind got up, a LOT.  In the end it was not safe to put the boats in the water, we couldn't even put the sails up, and it was a very windblown ceremony indeed.
Here are all the boats lined up

And the crowd who came to see the launch

What a fantastic achievement for everyone, especially Richard and your boys- well done. Shame about the wind.
