Now for the reason we went to the USA, Pamela's wedding to Dan. Pamela lived with us in 2002 for a year, she came from Paraguay on an AFS exchange. Pame calls us Mum and Dad and she is very much part of our family. Pame moved to the USA to study and work on the ski fields and met Dan there.
On the Thursday night that we arrived in Deep Creek we were invited to Dan's parents house for dessert and to meet both families. It was so lovely to meet them all, I've waited a long time to meet Pamela's parents and it was nice to finally do so, unfortunately we weren't able to communicate much as they only speak Spanish and we only speak English. We also sat together at the wedding, but there were some bilingual people at the table who were able to help us communicate, and I couldn't thank them enough for translating for us. Pamela is so lucky to have Dan's family in the USA, it's nice to know that in a foreign country she has such lovely people to rely on.
Here we are that night
Pamela and Dan were married at 5pm in a barn that had belonged to a family friend in a lovely valley just up from Deep Creek Lake. Here's the barn, it's so American eh! And these barns are everywhere in the countryside, all different sizes, all the same shape and all red.
The inside of the barn was beautiful, it's completely authentic, gaps between the boards and all but gas heaters kept it toasty. It was all decorated with tulle and fairy lights, and the tables were done with candles and flowers and little white pumpkins.
Here are the bride and groom exchanging their vows
isn't she beautiful!
And some other photos from the evening
Jordan was thrilled to see he is now taller than Pamela, Mia was entranced with her big sister and so excited to meet her.
Here we are with Pamela's parents, Ricardo and Gracelia, her sister Priscilla and Priscilla's gorgeous daughter, Bianca.
If you want to see more pictures, there are some at the Photographers website

The next day we went back to the barn for brunch, before saying goodbye and heading off to drive to New York.
