Grants Reserve

A couple of weekends ago we went to Grants Reserve in the Dandenongs for a picnic.  It's a real tourist mecca and on a beautiful December weekend it was hard to get a car park.

First we went for a walk.  I thought there would be lots of people out walking, but the track was deserted.

Then we went back to the reserve for a picnic with Gill and Peter and to feed the birds.  Mostly they are cockatoos.

One of the cockatoos bit me really hard.  OUCH!
Richard is holding a Crimson Rosella and there were also Galahs, which I was unable to photograph.

And this crazy looking thing that must be some kind of cross breed.

That is too wild! There are places here where pigeons do that, come right up to you for food. Cockatoos are much prettier!

That last photo might be a juvenile bird just moulting into their adult feathers...
