New Years eve....Melbourne style

The lovely people of Melbourne City realise that we don't want to drag our kids through groups of drunken yobs to see the New Years Eve Fireworks display. So they put on a family one at 9pm.
We went in early to enjoy some entertainment at Fed Square then mossied on down to the river to check out the action.

In this picture, there are people as far as the eye can see lining the banks of the Yarra.

Afterward they let free the balloons of wishes....or something like that anyway. Twas very pretty even if I don't know what it is.
